Hybrid Gar (Atractosteus/Lepisosteus spp) The We also have a hybrid gar here that is a cross between the longnose and the alligator gar. They live primarily in the Trinity river, and we have caught these gar up to 90 lbs. The biggest with a client was 65 lbs. this is one of the hardest gar to catch of all the species, as we have only taken 6 with clients. 4 of the 6 wre caught in 2005. These gar will typically be around 25 to 40 lbs. We have opened a new area on the river, which is where we are catching these, so our catch ratio on the hybrids may go up in 2006. |
