Captain's Reports
April 4th Report.
Well the wind is still blowing pretty good at times. And that makes fishing kinda tuff. Took the Dean party out on Saturday. The water was churned up pretty good but we managed to boat some decent trout and reds. We used darker colored touts and New Penny Gulps under a Cajun Thunder. We waded most of the day. The water temps are getting up in the 70s in a lot of places. Sunday, Dave and Shelley from Canada boarded the boat for their first ever salt water trip. Dave hooked up with a big ole 27in red that gave him a pretty good fight. It was the first red he has ever caught. I think we made a believer out of him. Shelley got to fight a pretty good black drum that came in at aroun 22in. Both were caught on live shrimp under a cork. The transition from the winter to the spring patterns is just around the corner. As I said the water temps are starting to reach those magical high 70s and the fish are starting to move from the mud to the sand pockets in the grass. we should be seeing some monster trout caught in the next few days or weeks. Just a note: The Port Mansfield Chamber of Commerce is hosting their Annual Ladies tournament on June 6th and 7th. For more info go to www.portmansfield.us. TIGHT LINES & SCREAMIN REELS CAPT. BOB
